Ananta Fund at a glance

In many developing countries, including Indonesia, donor agencies often provide grant assistance to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) with rigid systems and models, thus creating dependency on CSOs as grant recipients and donor agencies. With such limited budgets, CSOs use most of their grant funds to finance programs, thereby reducing their opportunities to develop institutional capacity.

Based on these conditions, the KEHATI Foundation with support from The Ford Foundation is here to support the sustainability of CSO work through the formation of a new trust fund to manage endowment funds. This endowment fund will be a sustainable source of funds for developing CSO capacity in the country.

The endowment fund will provide CSOs with the opportunity to access long-term financial resources that can be used for various institutional capacity building activities. In this way, CSOs can be more independent in planning and implementing initiatives and programs that are more sustainable and have a long-term impact on society. Through this approach, it is hoped that CSOs can become stronger, more empowered and play an active role in the country’s development.

Mission

Strengthening four aspects of the sustainability of Civil Society Organizations, namely resource mobilization, institutional governance, cadre formation, and the relevance of the role of institutions in accordance with the challenges of the times;
Encouraging the optimization of the role of Civil Society Organizations in responding to social problems related to social inequality, space for civil society, poverty alleviation, gender equality, the environment and climate change
Support Civil Society Organizations to be involved in efforts to improve public services, good governance, and policies that support sustainable development;
Developing Ananta's governance into an institution that is strong, trustworthy, able to mobilize resources, and has a wide institutional network.

Social Inequality

Social inequality leads to divisions and affects access to various resources, such as education, healthcare, and job opportunities. We can foster a more equitable and inclusive society by addressing and reducing inequality.

Civic Space

Restricted space for civil society organizations (CSOs) can impede community involvement in decision-making processes. Thus, enhancing civic space is essential to ensure that the interests of the people are represented and that the government remains accountable.

Reducing Poverty

Poverty is a complex problem that requires a comprehensive solution. Initiatives to alleviate poverty can lead to greater prosperity and improve people's overall quality of life, especially by strengthening the family economy.

Gender Equality

It is crucial to guarantee that everyone is treated equally, irrespective of gender, ensuring they have the same rights and opportunities. Gender equality is vital for sustainable development. CSOs can contribute significantly by promoting women's empowerment and working to eradicate gender discrimination.

Environment

Protecting the environment is crucial for safeguarding the planet's ecosystems and securing a sustainable future for generations to come. CSOs can contribute by educating the public on the significance of environmental protection and promoting tangible actions.

Climate Change

Climate change poses a significant threat that requires a united response. To mitigate its effects, CSOs are essential in promoting environmentally sustainable policies and motivating communities to take action.
